Syncing edits and deletions
What happens to the delivered copy when the source message is edited or deleted.
A message in the source rarely stays as it was posted: a typo is fixed, a price is updated, a post is pulled. The Sync with the source switch decides whether those changes reach the destination: edits and deletions in the source are repeated in the delivered post. It is in every source card and in the chat's Message content section, in the Sync block.

What the switch does
When it is on:
- an edit of the post in the source changes the delivered copy in place — the text, the caption and replaced media. Readers see the corrected message where it was, with Telegram's "edited" mark;
- a deletion of the post in the source deletes its copy in the destination.
Under the switch, once it is on, two more appear — Edit when edited in the source and Delete when deleted in the source — for when you want to repeat only edits or only deletions.
When the switch is off, changes are not propagated: the destination keeps the version it received. It is off by default — a source that cleans up old posts would otherwise take them out of your channel as well.
The edited text passes the pipeline again: the filters, the replacements, the template, AI and translation run on it as on a new message. An edit that the filters now drop is not delivered.
Only a known copy can be edited. When Routify does not know which message in the destination corresponds to the edited one — the copy was delivered more than 72 hours ago, before sync was switched on, or the post was filtered at the time — the edit is skipped: it is not published as a new message, so no duplicates appear in the destination.
How long the link lasts
For every delivered message Routify remembers which message in the destination it became. The record lives for 72 hours and survives restarts of the bot. Telegram itself lets an author edit a message for 48 hours, so the extra day only covers the edge cases; after that edits and deletions are not propagated.
Limits
- A forwarded message (Forward in the delivery mode) cannot be changed: for a forward only deletions are repeated.
- The sender that delivered the copy must be the one that edits it. Telegram allows a bot to edit only its own messages, and an account only its own — a copy sent from the account cannot be edited by the bot, and the other way round.
- While a public channel is read by Routify's service session because your account unsubscribed from it, edits and deletions in it are not synced, see Connecting an account.
